During a pregnancy massage the expectant mother is carefully supported by pillows and cushions, to ensure their comfort and protect the baby from possibly injury. This massage is designed to be gentle and lighter in pressure. Deep tissue techniques and pressures are avoided as a safety precaution.
Our licensed massage therapists are trained to tailor their massage technique in order to provide relief for common complaints experienced during pregnancy. Attention tends to be placed on areas of the body that are particularly effected by a pregnancy such as the feet and back. The gentle strokes and kneading can provide relaxation and reduce aches affecting the expectant mother. Many other areas of the body are avoided during the massage to protect the mother and baby.
For the protection of the mother and baby, pregnancy massage is not recommended during the first trimester. However, it can provide relief later on, especially during the last few months of pregnancy.
